VANDERBIJLPARK. – The Vaal University of Technology (VUT), has appointed Professor Maggi Lonigton as acting new Vice Chancellors and Principal of the institution.

Lonigton took over from Proffessor Ihron Rensburg who’s term of office as Administrator ended on 13 August 2021. The appointment was announced on 12 and 13 August 2021, said Kediemetse Mokotsi Director: Marketing and Public Relations.

“The VUT community would like to thank Prof Rensburg and his team for their leadership and dedication in restoring governance.”

Mokotsi said that Lonigton will be acting until February 2022 while the recruitment and appointment of the new Vice Chancellor and Principal is in process.

“There’s a good relationship between the university and stakeholders. The process of rebranding VUT has ignited great excitement as both students and staff look forward to the new VUT identity as part of the rebirth of the university,” she said.
