Taxi and car collide, leaving sixteen injured

The three critically injured women were airlifted by private medical helicopters to nearby hospitals for urgent care.

GAUTENG.- Sixteen people were injured this morning, three critically, when a taxi and a light motor vehicle collided on Adcock Street in Tsepisong, Roodepoort.

ER24 and other services arrived at 08:10 to find a taxi lying on its side a short distance away from the road. Several passengers had already climbed out through the taxi roof that had been ripped open in the incident.

Medics set up a triage area and assessed the patients, finding that three women had sustained numerous critical injuries while thirteen others had sustained minor to serious injuries.

The patients were treated, and the critically injured were provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals.

The three critically injured women were airlifted by private medical helicopters to nearby hospitals for urgent care.

The relevant authorities were on the scene and will be investigating the cause of the incident.
