Police in Boipatong conduct GBV campaign

The police in Boipatong under the leadership of Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mapalo Jeminah Khasuli together with the Victim Friendly Facility (Indibano NGO) sector commanders held a door to door campaign recently

BOIPATONG. -.The main focus of the campaign was to address issues relating to Gender Based Violence and Drug and Substance Abuse.

During the campaign, Khasuli encouraged members of the community to utilize the VFF center as it operates on a 24 hour basis with standby counsellors for victims.

The campaign also addressed the theft of motor vehicles in the area.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambe says: “Most of the houses in the area do not have fences and this makes it easy for thieves to enter the yards.

“Members of the community are urged to fence up their yards and assist the police in making their area a crime free area.

“Centers have a qualified social worker and counsellors every Tuesday from 08:00 until 16:00. Informative pamphlets were distributed by police and GBV Brigades and Indibano NGO.”
