Correctional services sick bay facility renovated

“We want to see the communities prosper and flourish.”

SASOLBURG. – The Sasolburg Department of Correctional Services (DCS) received an amount of R836 000 from the Sasolburg Firm to renovate the sick bay facility.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted by Righwell Laxa, Vice President of Sasolburg and Ekandustria Operations at Sasol, on 22 October. This follows a previous visit where Sasol donated masks and sanitizers as part of the company’s Covid-19 support efforts to flatten the curve in the Free State. Laxa said they conducted an in-depth assessment and found that the sick bay at the facility did not comply with standards and requirements as prescribed by the Department of Health.

“As Sasol, we are committed to contribute towards the communities in which we operate. We contribute towards a system that is designed to correct the criminal behaviour of its occupants,” said Laxa.

Amongst the renovations and alterations conducted were electrical upgrades, mechanical heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The company further donated medical equipment and fittings, mobile patient monitors, hospital beds and mattresses, bedside furniture, bed linen, bed covers, and medical cabinet. Laxa said this project reflects one of Sasol’s core values of caring for people, irrespective of their circumstances.

“This upgrade was conducted in the spirit of that belief in our core value – that of humanity,” explained Laxa. “We want to see the communities prosper and flourish.”
