Hijacked truck recovered in Vereeniging

The police in Vereeniging have been applauded for a job well done after they recovered a hijacked truck.

VEREENIGING. – It is reported that when the truck was hijacked, it carried a cargo of televisions, air conditioners, cellphones and car parts.

Police Spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda reports that Vereeniging SAPS crime prevention members, Captain Du Plessis, Warrant Officer Fourie, Sergeant Jonk, Sergeant Bopape and Sergeant Sololo, were on duty when they were alerted by Tracker about a truck that was hijacked at the corner of the R21 and Pomana road in Kempton Park.

“Members were further told that the truck was around Vereeniging. Members together with members of SPS security services proceeded to General Smuts Street where they found an empty White Man truck that was abandoned with the key still in the ignition. The truck was booked to the SAPS exhibit register. We are investigating a case of hijacking.”

The acting station commander, Colonel Bucks Van Wyk commended the members on a job well done. “This is the kind of partnership we would like to see between private security and the police, it always yields good results.”
