A 40-year-old man was shot dead  just before 18:00 on Wednesday afternoon at Entrance 5 of Vaal Mall shopping center.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased and the security guard apparently got into an argument after they allegedly bumped into each other in the entrance with trolleys.

Police confirmed that several shots were fired, but that the man was hit only once. He died on the scene.

There is apparently circuit television footage of the shooting.
