Police wants Sangoma trainee to assist in murder case
"The suspect apparently found Theka with a male Sangoma trainee in a ‘Ndumba’ and this did not sit well with him."
BOPHELONG. – The recent murder of a traditional healer by her lover has left many with more questions than answers.
This comes after Johannes Hlubi (53) allegedly stabbed his lover, Heriate Theka (53) several times to death with a spear normally used by Sangoma’s for digging muthi. The horrific incident happened at their home in Bophelong Extension 6 on 3 December.
“The suspect was arrested and charged with murder. He will appear for bail application on 13 December,” said police Spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale.
Makhale said that the suspect apparently found Theka with a male Sangoma trainee in a ‘Ndumba’ (a place used by the traditional healers to keep their medications) and this did not sit well with the suspect as he suspected that the two were having an affair. During a commotion the trainee is said to have fled on foot, leaving Theka with the suspect who then apparently stabbed her to death.
Police are therefore seeking the help of the unnamed trainee in their investigations of the case.
