Barrage SAPS campaign against Gender Based Violence

Captain Nape appreciated the support received from the other police precincts.

THE BARRAGE.- Head of the Visible Police Commander, Captain Happy Nape together with his members and the Barrage Victim Empowerment members were joined by various police precincts, during the campaign against Gender Based Violence (GBV) awareness at Vaaloewer squatter camp and the neighboring areas recently.

The Barrage police were supported by among other Police stations, Vereeniging, Meyerton, Sharpeville and Boipatong. Indibano Victim Empowerment Project, Jamela Rehabilitation centre, Thuthuzela Centre from Kopanong hospital and Emfuleni Local Municipality public safety also joined the chorus. The awareness  lasted for three hours.

The awareness ended at the Barrage informal squatter camp, with Sergeant Nombulelo Mohlakoana Media Liaison Officer and Sergeant Penny Kwankwa coordinating the awareness. Kwankwa said even though they managed to reach most of the shacks, some of the owners were still at work.

“We will have to go back to the area as follow up,” she said. Captain Nape appreciated the support received from the other police precincts.
