Sedibeng District police gathered at the NG Klip Kerk in Vereeniging to celebrate and pray for safe keeping this Easter holidays .

VEREENIGING. – The event was attended by business people and members of the community. Dozens of men and women in blue sang, worshipped and prayed during the prayer session with different pastors administering the service.

The gathering started with a march in the area with a mimic of Jesus walking around in white clothes and a cross on his back. Song, chant and clapping was the order of the day as the men and women who have dedicated their lives serving and protecting the people of South Africa walked the Vereeniging CBD.

Scores of bystanders watched as the parade roamed the streets of one of the most notorious towns in the region. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster following the procession and the prayer, Acting District Commissioner in Sedibeng District Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba said “We wanted to have a feeling of celebrating Easter Holiday with the members of the community, saps and business partners.

The gathering is also to promote community policing in our precincts,” she said. Ndaba said different pastors will be giving an idea of what happened on the important holiday.

Ndaba emphasised that the prayer was not only for Easter Holidays but also for GBV victims, recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal and the overall safety of men and women in blue.
