Not a good start for new look Bantwana

The Bantwana players were nervous coming into the match as this was their first ever qualifier.

SEDIBENG.- The new look South Africa U17 Women’s Team started their first leg of the third round of FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup with a 3-0 defeat against Ethiopia at Wits Stadium in Johannesburg on Easter Friday.

This is a new Bantwana team and Coach Simphiwe Dludlu believes that this defeat was a learning experience for her young team. Bantwana put some brilliant displays despite the defeat, however, Ethiopia showed more experienced. The Bantwana players were nervous coming into the match as this was their first ever qualifier following the cancellation of their qualifiers against Kenya in March 2022.  Bantwana managed to hold their own in the first 15 mintues of the match as they created chances but failed to convert.

No doubt, Bantwana will improve  from this performance if their performance against Ethiopia is anything to go by. Dludlu was happy with her team performance on the day but he said there are few things to work on .
