‘Stop being sensational’: ELM to DA
Chabalala's party has been informed by Maile that the investigation into the matter was never carried out because Emfuleni had taken legal steps to remedy the situation
SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has called on the Democratic Alliance (DA) to stop being sensational in the media with the issues that they, the DA, are well aware of as they are part and parcel of Council.
This follows a statement issued by the party through its Emfuleni North Constituency Head and member of Provincial Legislature (MPL) Kingsol Chabalala that said that there has not been any legal action taken against officials implicated in ‘jobs for pals’ scandal in Emfuleni. The DA demands that MEC Maile initiate an urgent investigation into this matter to ascertain whether the issue of extending contracts of political appointees was referred to the labour court.
“Should it be found that Emfuleni misled the MEC those responsible should face severe consequences. Giving jobs to pals is clear corruption and flouts all ethical practices within any organization hence consequence management must take place.”
ELM Acting Manager: Communications, Marketing, Branding and Events Management, Makhosonke Sangweni said, “We are busy with the application for reviewal through our legal team that has already been appointed to deal with this specific case or matter, DA should know this as they form part of the Council and can easily access this through the MM’s Office or our legal department without being sensational in the media.”
