BOPHELONG.- Two out of the three much anticipated Emfuleni Local Association’s (ELFA) Super League matches were ‘walkovers’ at the Bophelong Stadium over the weekend.
To the disappointment of fans, only one match took place with the other two games declared walkovers after several opponents failed to honour their scheduled fixtures. For example, the game between JJ Sporting FC and Junior Lions FC didn’t materialise as the Lions FC team failed to show up. Junior Lions’ officials told Sedibeng Ster Sport that at this time of the schooling year it is difficult to get all the players together, as they are preparing for their important upcoming exams.

However, this problem did not only affect Junior Lions, with some of the teams experiencing the same situation. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, most of the teams said that their players don’t come to training in numbers because of exams taking place at school. Sedibeng Ster Sport told them they don’t intend to be no shows, but their schooling schedule forces them to miss these events. The game between TK Rangers and Waya Waya FC was also registered as walkover after Waya Waya failed to show up for the fixture. The only game that took place on the day was between Two Touch FC and Nale Academy. Meanwhile, Atlentico FC looks set to be crowned the Vanderbijlpark Stream after they beat JJ Sporting FC on Friday.
