SEDIBENG.- It’s official Arthur Zwane is the new Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach for next three years after the club officiality announced his appointment on Friday morning.
This was long over due with Zwane havin been with the club for the past 32 years as a player and development coach before he was appointed as the first team assistant coach. His appointment didn’t come as a surprise after his sterling job with Kaizer Chiefs development and DDC team which saw him promoting exciting young players including local boys, Sabelo Radebe, Siyabonga Ngezana and Lebohang Lesako. His appointment was long over due taking into consideration his success with the club especially after Gavin Hunt left the club towards the end of last season. Zwane and Dillon Sheppard who will be working together took the struggling Kaizer Chiefs to the CAF Champion League final but only became deputy to Stuart Baxter when Al Ahly beat them 3-0.
Zwane has been there and done it in two occasions and it is not like he is new to this pressure of leading a big team Kaizer Chiefs. Speaking to the media, Zwane said he knows the pressure of coaching a big team like Chiefs.
“Don’t forget I was a player here and I know the expectations of coaching a big institution like Kaizer Chiefs and I’m equal to the task. I know what is expected from me and with the support of management we are going to achieve a lot. I want to thank chairman Mr Kaizer Motaung for giving me this opportunity as a player and now to lead this club as a coach. I’m grateful because it is not everyone who can play or coach this club because of its success. I also would like to thank everyone who has been supportive to me especially the club management when the results were hard to come in our last few games of the season,” he concluded.
