Chabalala pledges to restore the dignity of ELM residents

Chabalala has promised to deliver better services to Emfuleni residents.

The DA Mayoral Candidate for Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), Kingsol Chabalala, has urged residents to use their vote as a tool to choose a better future for themselves as well as those who will come after. According to Chabalala, Emfuleni was once one of Gauteng’s most important economic hubs.

“Today, residents face collapsing infrastructure, unreliable services, financial mismanagement, corruption, unemployment, illegal dumping, crime and a municipality that has lost the trust of its people.”

Delivering his pledge, Chabalala said he envisions a professional, corruption-free and financially sustainable municipality that delivers reliable services, creates an environment that attracts investment and creates jobs. Chabalala said his main priority is to restore the dignity of every Emfuleni resident.

Chabalala delivered a six-point plan aimed at fixing the collapsing municipality. The plan includes fixing and investing in infrastructure, reliable basic service delivery, ending nepotism and ensuring fair opportunities, growing the local economy and creating a safe, business-friendly environment, restoring trust by fixing billing, empowering the youth, and delivering for all, and to restore trust.

“The first step to fixing Emfuleni is fixing the municipality itself. Residents deserve a government that serves the public interest and delivers results. For a professional municipality, which is the foundation of effective and efficient service delivery,” he said.
Talking to Ster North about the upcoming elections, Chabalala says he is confident.

“The DA’s track record speaks for itself. We made history in Ward 28, and we are about to make history again.

“To the residents of our municipality, let us imagine an Emfuleni where our roads are properly maintained, and there is a dependable water supply. An Emfuleni where sewage is managed responsibly, and spillages are dealt with urgently. An Emfuleni where electricity infrastructure is maintained, and outages are addressed effectively. An Emfuleni where public appointments are fair, where nepotism is challenged, and where accountability is the order of the day. An Emfuleni where municipal leadership listens to residents and treats public money with the respect it deserves.”

Chabalala said that is the kind of future communities can expect.
