Learners embrace holiday entrepreneurship training

Midvaal learners prepare to turn their creativity into business ventures after completing The Holiday Hustle entrepreneurship training.

MIDVAAL – The upcoming school holidays will be an adventure for New Hope Secondary School learners, who will use their newly acquired entrepreneurship skills.

The Grade 11 learners took part in an entrepreneurship presentation called The Holiday Hustle by African Evolutionary Projects on October 21.

Samuel Ramushu led the programme to teach young people how to launch, run and grow businesses. He equipped the children with information about marketing, funding, business expansion, partnerships and social media.

Ramushu told Ster North that the programme aims to give children something positive to focus on during school holidays.

“There are so many negative things happening in the society we live in. This training will have a positive impact on the learners as it will allow them to explore their creativity and come up with different business ideas that will allow them to delve into the entrepreneurship space,” he said.

Tshidi Mabe from the Midvaal Local Municipality’s Savannah City Skills Development Centre handed out certificates at the end of the training.

Mabe urged the participants to use their new skills to open sustainable businesses and work hard to make their dreams come true.
The excited learners said they were happy with the presentation and eager to brainstorm different business ideas.

The training received support from Meyerton Spur, the Savannah Skills Development Centre and Gelee Technologies, which designed the certificates. Ramushu hopes to train more learners from various schools.

“We are going to be doing a donation drive within the Midvaal community to raise funds to continue this initiative and make it a success.”
