This year’s Youth Month was celebrated at Groenpunt Maximum Correctional Centre in a unique way.

SASOLBURG.- Several certificates for great achievements were awarded to the young inmate students during the conference with the theme: “Promoting sustainable life and resilience for a better tomorrow”.

The main objective of the centre is to empower youth through education. This will assist them at the time they are released after serving their sentence, in order to better their chances of finding employment and starting a new life. Correctional Services Spokesperson, Refiloe Tshukudu said the inmates are always provided with good skills. Tshukudu said that this year’s celebration was a mixture of 21 Calvary students who achieved certificates of Bachelor of Ministry. Others are from UNISA, and Oxbridge. The learners obtained their matric certificates.
