SA Navy hands 400 pairs of shoes to schools
The South African Navy in partnership with the Liberty group continued with their generous activities when they distributed more than 400 school shoes and t-shirts to the needy learners of Mqiniswa Primary School in Bophelong on Friday.

BOPHELONG.- Navy Comander, Ruwayda Grootboom said that this is part of celebrating the 67 minutes of the icon, Nelson Mandela.
Chief of the Navy, Admiral Hlongwane said that the issue of children without shoes walking to school is touching deep in his heart. Hlongwane, a former learner of Mqiniswa, said that he used to come to school barefooted.

“That was very painful especially during winter. One day a teacher forced me to take out my shoes which were not school shoes. It was not nice as at home they could not afford to buy me school shoes. Thanks to the various industries and other stakeholders who contributed with the shoes,” he said adding that the the distribution and donations started at Mohloli High School in Sharpeville.
“Through the assistance of companies, the Navy changed certain classes and the school library. To add more, we donated an anchor and a bell of a ship at Mohloli High in March this year.”
