SAFA pays Banyana Banyana bonuses

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has finally paid all 23 Banyana Banyana players their bonuses they promised for winning the recent Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations in Morocco.

SEDIBENG.- Much has been said and written about SAFA being bankrupt and not being able to can afford to pay Banyana Banyana their promised bonuses.

However, SAFA President, Danny Jordaan told the media that the agreed deadline for payment with the players was within 30 days after Banyana Banyana were crowned the queens of African football beating the hosting nation Morocco 2-1 in the nail biting final. Jordaan said SAFA kept its commitment and that Banyana Banyana received R400 000 each for winning the tournament. As if this is not enough, the Gauteng Sports and Recreation Department rewarded Banyana Banyana with R5.8 million for winning the tournament.

This will be split among the players and the technical team.

Banyana Banyana got a red-carpet treatment on their arrival from Morocco with the South Africans packing the OR Tambo International airport to capacity to welcome these unsung heroins.

Banyana Banyana made the country proud by winning this women continental tournament after several attempts without success.
