VEREENIGING.- This was said by the President of the New Horizon Movement (NHM) who is also the Emfuleni Local Municipality MMC for Public Works, Bishop Vincent Jones. He said that his party aims to lay fraud charges against ‘a group ‘from the party who call themselves the real NHM members who recently elected their executive committee.

The drama followed a meeting hosted by the group at the Soul Tsotetsi Sports Complex, Zone 14 in Sebokeng on 20 August.

Jones said that the meeting should not have happened, as this was unconstitutional, he further added that the Sheriff of the court arrived with a warrant in hand moments after the alleged self-proclaimed new Executive Committee of NHM were elected. The new group flatly denied that the Sheriff arrived wielding a warrant letter to serve them. Benjamin Motsukunyane was elected as the first Chairperson, Amelia Tshukudu, Deputy Chairperson, Baba Mncube, Treasure, Buti Nkopane, Secretary, Cecilia Mokone, Deputy Secretary of the ‘group’.

MMC Jones said the name was nothing short of stealing.

“If they want to start their own party, they must at least use their own name.” The new group has accused the old group of going to see the ANC to forge a coalition. The new group told Sedibeng Ster that they are going to writte a letter to the IEC and the Speaker of the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM). They want to state their ‘group’ as a political party in its own right.
