Young boxers to participate in the National Boxing Championships

Three local boxers have been selected to be in the Gauteng team that will participate in the upcoming National Boxing Championships.

SEDIBENG.- This was after their outstanding performance at the Gauteng Boxing Championships held in Pretoria over the weekend, the National Boxing Championships will take place in October with the venue still to be confirmed.

The three boxers who are expected to hoist the Sedibeng flag high are Papi Hlatsane, Ki Mabote and Rayhaan Beserman. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Jafar Franks said these youngsters will be competing in 32kg, 41kg and 60kg divisions respectively.

“These boys were outstanding and showed their character and it was not by fluke they won. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate these young boxers for being selected to be part of the Gauteng team that will compete in the National Boxing Championships. I have no doubt that they will make us proud come October. We are going to give them the support that they deserve, and we want to thank Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Sports department for their support. They have supported boxing for a long time, assisting us with transport among other things. So we are grateful for their contribution to the development of boxing. It is a fact that sports development is suffering because of a lack of financial muscle but thanks to Emfuleni for making things easy for our boxers,” said Franks.
