VANDERBIJLPARK. – During the event, which was graced by top SAPS managers from various police stations in the region, both uniformed and non-uniformed members were recognized for their dedication to serving and protecting communities for many years.
There are three categories of officers qualified for recognition: those who have served in the SAPS for 30, 20 and 10 years.
In what she called her last Medal Parade, Molefe commended the officers for being selfless and dedicating their lives to ensuring the safety of communities at all times.

“Most of the officers that were awarded are about to exit the organisation. It is worrisome that we are about to lose such a high calibre of officers.
“We acknowledge the work they have done so far. The mandate is clear that we protect and serve, and this is what was displayed here today.”
Molefe thanked the families of officers for their never-ending support, adding that the officers would not be able to face challenges without the support of loved ones.
“I’m about to exit the organisation and I want to thank everyone who played a part in making the event a success.

“To the young constables that are still entering the SAPS, I would like to urge you to be disciplined and uphold the law. The SAPS will look after you if you look after yourself,” she said.
Molefe urged entry-level officers to refrain from corruption as it could result in imprisonment.
“In the SAPS you work hard and study in order to move up the ranks.”
