Big businesses in Sedibeng region are under attack as festive season creeps in.

SEDIBENG – Several convenient shops and filling stations have been robbed and few cash in transit vans were bombed without luck.

Three filling stations were robbed in one weekend including one in Polokong and two in Evaton.

Following the scourge of growing robberies, the following week another feeling station in Evaton north was robbed by armed robbers who fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On the 14, November, 2022, popular doctor was robbed at his surgery in Zone 12 by a gang of armed men who took belongings from his surgery together with his Ford Ranger abandoned in Zone 6.

On Monday, November 29, 2022, Peso Pick N’ Pay in Zone 7, Sebokeng was robbed in broad daylight by two armed thieves who got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

According to an insider the men entered the store with a firearm and demanded cellphones from patrons.

“I was shaking when the two boys entered and started swearing, telling us we are being robbed, they wanted cellphones, took money from cash tills and evaded the scene,” said the insider.

Another person who was in the store said the men went on the direction of zone 10 after robbing the store.

“We followed them in fear when they exited the store. They went on the direction to Zone 10,” she said.

Following the robbery at Peso, police spokesman Sergeant Shaan Motsapi said a case of business robbery was opened.
