Boksburg explosion driver released

Reports coming through are that the man (32) was taken into custody after the accident but was released without being charged.

GAUTENG.- The driver of the truck that exploded after it crashed into a bridge in Boksburg has been released without being charged.

NEWZROOM AFRICA reported that police said that there was insufficient evidence to charge the man after 18 people died when gas leaked from the truck he was driving and exploded on Christmas Eve, Saturday, 24 December.

The media waiting at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday were said to have been told by an official from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) that there was no case against the driver as provincial police said there was not enough evidence against him.

# It has been announced that by today, Wednesday, 28 December, the death toll had risen to 26.
