EVATON.- No one can question this man’s loyalty and love for football!

Abuti “Ralesenke” Mthombeni is still passionate about football after many years. He is still a loyal servant of this beautiful game, and wakes up in the morning to put nets before the Sedibeng Regional Masters Football Association games at the Conti ground in Wilberforce, Evaton. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mthombeni said he that he has spent his life serving football since his days at Evaton Blackpool DC and Bra Thomas Blackpool FC where he was well know for specialising with development teams, then known as D and C divisions. Mthombeni is one of the most popular individuals in Vaal for his passion for football.

Sedibeng Ster Sports, gave Mthombeni a lift to watch the Pooe Festive Soccer in Evaton. This was after he put nets in morning for the masters games at the Conti grounds, and as we drove to the Pooe Festive Soccer Tournament to watch the last 16 games, it was down to memory lane, with Mthombeni reflecting back when football was played “for the love of the game, and not money”.
“The Great (referring to this journalist), football is no longer the same. When you guys were still playing football it was all about the love for this sport, unlike today. I still have good memories of how football used to be, here in Vaal, with some great football clubs. But the same cannot be said about about football today,” Mthombeni said as we arrived at the Pooe grounds.
The interview was disrupted by the soccer fans who wanted to talk with the legendary Mothombeni.
