SHARPEVILLE.- Former Kaizer Chiefs great Simon “Bull” Lehoko is known to have been born in Sharpeville.

However, Lehoko made a shocking revelation when he revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that he was born in Evaton and not in Sharpeville as many believe. Lehoko disclosed this when the Matthews Nzimande Foundation donated a wheelchair to him at the end of last year. For all these years many – including media personalities – were under the impression that Lehoko was born in Sharpeville.
The story of Lehoko reminds Sedibeng Ster Sport of another former legend, Kenneth “Conti” Kubheka whom many thought was born in Evaton, only for the world to find out that he was born in Top Location.
Top Location is now known as Vereeniging.
” I was born in Evaton but grew up in Sharpeville. This is where it all began for me, as a player before I became a Coach,” said Lehoko.

Lehoko took Sedibeng Ster Sport down memory lane to when a selected Sharpeville squad was hammered by Orlando Pirates. Due to the demand from soccer fans, they invited Pirates again.
This was when the likes of Lehoko had the opportunity to play against a club with a rich history.
He still remembers, like yesterday, how the fans packed the venue and they made it to half time leading Pirates 2-0.
However, Lehoko made his name for himself when he joined the famous Phefeni Glamour Boys, as Kaizer Chiefs was called during those glory days. He was one of the players recruited from school at that time.
At Vaal Professional he formed a difficult wall to crack at the back with the late Andrew “Malome” Phiri as central defenders. To make it interesting, Malome Phiri also joined Orlando Pirates. In South African football, Lehoko and Phiri became household names as no-nonsense defenders.
