SEDIBENG.- The Gauteng Department of Social Development recently held its ongoing Non-Profit Organisation roadshows at the JC Kotze Hall in Sebokeng to discuss compliance, governance and service delivery with local groups.

Representatives from community and faith-based organisations gathered to talk about social services in the region.

The roadshows aim to build stronger ties between the department and the sector while encouraging good management and accountability for state-funded programmes.

Speaking on behalf of Gauteng MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, the Director for Stakeholder Relations urged groups to embrace good governance for sustainable partnerships.

“We are excited as the Department to engage with our funded NPOs.”

The MEC said the roadshows are a direct expression of her commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the existing relationship between the Department and the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) sector.

“Our relationship should be a developmental relationship, not one that is only centred around funding.”

Acting Deputy Director-General Tebello Mkhonto said the roadshows help improve transparency and service delivery for vulnerable communities by focusing on compliance and funding processes.

“We are excited as the Department to engage with our funded NPOs. These sessions focus on compliance, the funding management process and improving service delivery,” said Mkhonto.
