Mayor Teixeira honours top matriculants for putting Midvaal on the map

Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) Mayor Peter Teixeira says he looks forward to the contributions that will be made by top matriculants from Midvaal in their communities.

MEYERTON. – Top performing matriculants from various public schools in Midvaal were recently hosted by the Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) Mayor, Peter Teixeira in celebration of their achievement. The event was held on Friday at the Meyerton Town Hall.

The learners that were celebrated came from Destinata School which achieved a 100% pass rate, Hoerskool Dr Malan which achieved 99.50%, Meyerton High School with a 79.60% pass rate , New Hope Secondary acquiring 78.70% and Rusoord Secondary with a 78% pass rate. .

Anzel van Wyk , Laren Smith, Jared Ras, Amanda Kimori Louis, Bosch Malan, Manana Karabo, Lehlohonolo Mokoena, Puseletso Mapola, Lerato Ngobeni  and Lydia Khori  were honoured for working tirelessly to put their schools and Midvaal on the map.

The learners were joined by their families, school principals and School Governing Body (SGB) members. The Executive Mayor praised the school principals and educators for their hard work and dedication.

Teixeira says, “Today, I had the privilege of honouring our top 10 learners in Midvaal. These are the top 2 from each public school in our community. Each learner received a Mayoral donation to the value of R 5000 and the overall top learner received R 10 000. Pick n Pay Meyerton further donated a R500 stationery voucher to each student.”

Teixeira also recognized the families of the learners for their support through the matric year.

“We look forward to seeing the contribution that each of the learners will make to better their community of Midvaal and South Africa as a whole,” Teixeira concludes.
