SEDIBENG.- Thee Softball fraternity is mourning the passing of one of the celebrated Softball legends, Mosiuoa Motsapi.
It is reported that Motsapi was shot dead on Monday night.
Sedibeng Ster Sport learned of this shocking news from social media with his friends and colleagues describing Motsapi as a selfless individual who contribute to the success of Softball in South Africa.
One of his long-time friends said: “I really can’t comprehend this, you arrived in SA Softball setup in the twilight of my career and made a good name for yourself as one of the best pitchers then. Through the years you have always teased me about meeting up around 2 a-side Volleyball, yes, not Softball, and with some soul and R&B music to see who was the best.”
“Now how I wish I could have honoured that invitation just once but suddenly Bloemfontein to Sebokeng doesn’t feel far. “May your soul rest in peace, Mosiou Motsapi, the best I can do in your memory is find a team to coach and ensure softball lives on,” said Kasaobaka Mokgadi.

Patrick Sefali said “I’m saddened about this news, what a great loss. I played against him several times and Noble Matseliso found that gem at a school tournament in Durban.”
Motsapi will go down in the history of South African Softball as one of the most passionate individuals as a player and coach to have graced the Softball field. He was one of the players who put Sedibeng on the map as a player.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Phera Mautloa, one of the softball administrators who witnessed Motsapi’s career from a young age, said the Softball fraternity is saddened by the passing of Motsapi. Mautloa said that Softball has lost an icon in Motsapi who was instrumental in the development of Softball in Sedibeng.

“I was with him during the Bricks Tsunke Softball Memorial Tournament at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex late last year in November. On behalf of all those Softball administrators who worked with Motsoapi, we want to send our condolences to his friends, colleagues, and family,” said Mautloa.
Gauteng Softball Chairman, Vuyo Xubu has organized a Memorial Service scheduled to take place at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex on Friday from 13:00. The funeral will take place at the same venue on Saturday from 11:00.
