Boipatong SAPS together with stakeholders conduct school visit at Jet Nteo

The visit was joined in by the Department of Correctional Services, Community Policing Forum (CPF) Indibano Victim Friendly Centre(VFCP) and ex-offenders.

BOIPATONG. – Boipatong SAPS in conjunction with various stakeholders continues in efforts to ensure safer schools.

This follows a school visit carried out at Jet Nteo Secondary School.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela says. “Speakers addressed issues that may be faced by pupils. The visit was joined in by the Department of Correctional Services, Community Policing Forum (CPF) Indibano Victim Friendly Centre(VFCP).

“Leaners were taught about bullying in schools, drugs, and substance abuse. Pupils are urged to focus on their studies and stay away from things that may get the into trouble.”

Speaking to the pupils, ex-offenders shared their experiences during their time spent in jail, urging pupils to make better choices and refrain from things that would land them in jail.

Other speakers urged learners to respect their teachers at all times as this would help in maintaining a good relationship between educators  and pupils.

“Eligible pupils were encouraged to join the youth crime prevention desk and patrollers in order to assist in fighting crime in their areas,” Maxambela adds .

Maxambela said they would continue keeping schools safe by conducting campaigns.
