Banyana Banyana in Turkey

"Thanks to SAFA and Sasol for making sure that we get the best preparations."

SEDIBENG.- Banyana Banyana are in Turkey to participate in the Turkish Women’s Cup as part of their preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August.

South Africa is in Group G alongside Italy, Argentina, and Sweden. This is their second appearance at the World Cup. Banyana Banyana Coach, Desiree Ellis will use this Turkish Women’s Cup to prepare this team after the team played some high-profile international friendly matches last year. Ellis said that this tournament is a perfect platform to prepare for the world cup with countries such as Bulgaria, Estonia, Kosovo, Hong Kong, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Zambia forming part of this Turkish Women’s Cup.

“We could not ask for a better preparation than this one and I believe at the end of the tournament we will know how far we are with preparations,” said Ellis.
