
VANDERBIJLPARK – Moremi Christopher Happy Rafutho (48) appeared briefly in Vanderbijlpark Magistrate Court today, February 23.
During the case, South African National Civic Organization (SANCO) members together with gender-based violence brigades packed regional court A in support of his victims.
Some of the victims were in court accompanied by friends and families.

Happy was arrested on various charges, including rape, intimidation, house robberies, and the pointing of a firearm.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, one of the suspects said she is patiently waiting for trial.
“I don’t think the court will release him on bail next week. This monster is facing too many charges than we thought. My wish is that he remains in custody until he gets sentenced,” she said.
SANCO’s Sedibeng regional Secretary Ndade Mohlabane said they welcomed the postponement.

“As SANCO we are not happy that this case was postponed to next week, however, we welcome the decision. This man is charged with very serious crimes. We are here to make sure that our community is protected from this monster,” he said.
Mohlabane said, “we will make sure that we support these victims until the last day and make sure that this madman is sentenced”.

Gender-based violence brigade from the Department of Community Safety, Mampe Mosebi said “Ours is to support the victims of the famous Vanderbijlpark serial rapist. We want to make sure that the court does not release this man into the community because that will put the lives of his victims, the community, and women and children in danger. We hope for justice for all the victims so that this man doesn’t continue terrorizing the community”.
