What a fun filled day in Boipatong!

It was a fun-filled day for the Boipatong community, young and old as they took part in this event.

BOIPATONG.- It was a fun fil day when young and old participated in the Fun Run/Walk, aerobics, and five-a-side soccer next to Boipatong Hall on Saturday.

The main aim of the event was to bring back the culture and spirit of mass sport participation in the area. The day’s program started with the Fun Run in the morning followed by an aerobics marathon and five-a-side soccer later.

This event was supposed to take place at Boipatong Stadium but was moved next to Boipatong Hall due to water at the venue. A nearby street was closed for a few hours and the community enjoyed themselves, participating in aerobics and the five-a-side.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Iggy Masia hailed the event as a success for a start and he believes that next year it is going to be bigger and better. He said they intend to host this event every year with the hope to attract more sponsorships. Some of the sponsors who formed part of the event include Auto Pedigree Vanderbijlpark and Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM).

“We want to thank those who made this event a success especially our sponsors, Auto Pedigree and the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Sports Department for coming on board. It was a great start and we are looking forward to making this an annual event in an attempt to bring back sports in Boipatong like it used to be the case in the past,” he concluded.
