Ninkies is a ‘Jack of all trades’…and a Master of all

SHARPEVILLE. – Listening to Theta FM’s multi-talented female DJ, Nomsa Ninkies (32), one is left baffled at the enormous talent that she possesses.

Born and raised in the Vaal, Ninkies is not only a radio presenter, she is also a TV presenter a Master of Ceremonies (MC), and an R&B and Soul DJ at functions and clubs where she is normally fully booked. The beauty, who is a ‘Jack of all trades’, together with another Thetha FM popular female DJ popularly known as Mimizana, currently hosts the ‘Mid-Morning Avenue’ during weekdays from 9 am to 12 pm through their brand name ‘Basadi Ba Sethepu’.

Ninkies’ career began in 2007 at VUT FM where she was a kiddies show co-host. She then moved to Sedibeng FM where she was an English newsreader until she was promoted to host the Breakfast Show. She then continued to climb the pecking order in her radio career when she jumped ship in 2017 to move to Lekoa FM, where she hosted the breakfast show and mid-morning show, one after the other.

Ninkies said that she was spotted by the Thetha Fm management in 2019 at an event where she was MCing and that she has been part of the “Thetha family’ (team) ever since.

“Among other gigs, I have hosted the ‘Kasi Vibes’ on Soweto TV part-time on weekdays from 2-5 pm. I have worked alongside the likes of Wilson B Nkosi, Tbose, Sentle Lehoko, and Msizi Shembe as co-DJ and I have been a prominent MC in the Vaal Triangle and surrounding areas.”

One of her biggest highlights was when she MCed at Kwaito group, Trompies’ member Mandla Spikiri’s birthday celebration in 2021 and later at the late queen of Kwaito, Mshoza’s birthday in 2021. Ninkies is also an Afropop vocalist with 3 singles titled: ‘Black Child’, ‘Thank You Jah’ and ‘I Decided’.

“I am passionate about children as well and one of my wishes is to run a day-care center for the less fortunate. My motto is simple, ‘Give me the Mic and I’ll show you my CV’.”
