Sedibeng Volleyball Reunion Games held in preparation of OR Tambo Games

"I was happy with the way things turned out on the day and thanks to those teams who came to participate."

SHARPEVILLE.-The  Sedibeng Reunion Games took place at Sharpeville Recreational Center opposite George Thabe Stadium on Saturday.

Six volleyball teams battled it out throughout the day with the main purpose being the preparation for the Sonchini OR Tambo Games scheduled to take place at Ratanda Sports Complex in Heidelberg on 22 July. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by the Sedibeng Volleyball Reunion organizer, Joseph Manzi who has been instrumental in the development of volleyball in Emfuleni.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Manzi said that the Saturday games were aimed at getting teams ready for the annual OR Tambo Games. Apart from Sedibeng volleyball teams, Manzi said they were honoured to also have teams from Orange Farm on the day.

He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they used these reunion games to start preparing for the Sonchini Games which will be part of the selection for a team that will represent Sedibeng at the next level.

“We had great games and the competition was at another level because everyone was aware that we were preparing for the OR Tambo Games. These games are our ongoing programs to revive volleyball in the Emfuleni community and to have more volleyball teams in our respective areas,” he concluded.
