Weeds and Seeds Midvaal on a Mandela Day donation drive

“We would kindly appreciate any donation we can get to pursue our goals of feeding and clothing the disadvantaged."

MIDVAAL. – After receiving generous winter wear donations for babies and toddlers from the LUSA Community Chest recently, the Weeds and Seeds Midvaal, a Non-Profit Company (NPC) will distribute them to four surrounding daycares and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre’s in the area on Mandela Day, 18 June.

Sibusiso Dyonase from Weeds and Seeds Midvaal said that they will be visiting the daycares and ECDs in the morning and later work in their garden, planting, and weed timing.

“We would kindly ask the community and local businesses to donate their 67 minutes for Mandela Day to us. We are going to need people who will do general garden work which will enable us to plant more seedlings. We have been kindly offered a donation of a nutritious soup which will be served on the day with bread.”

The organization is looking for a donation of approximately 200 bread rolls to go with the soup. On the day, there will also be activities such as wall painting and blanket making, done by the local community.

“Come and show us your art skills. Everyone will be allowed to leave their mark on our boundary wall. In summary, we want to be able to showcase our company, Weeds and Seeds Midvaal which is currently sponsored by Lynca Meats as well as the Lynca LifeLine.”

Dyonase said that they also plan to have trained Counsellors available all day for any visitors who may need their services.

“We would kindly appreciate any donation we can get to pursue our goals of feeding and clothing the disadvantaged. This year we plan to dedicate our time to skills development and have already successfully run blanket-making courses. We plan to run a full-scale sewing project in the near future which will offer people the opportunity to start their own businesses.”
