VANDERBIJLPARK – In a landmark achievement that has left the medical fraternity in awe, Dr. Dennis Agbazue, a renowned and talented surgeon, has successfully completed his one-hundredth endoscopic surgery.
This momentous occasion marks an amazing journey of dedication, skill, and compassion, saving countless lives and revolutionizing the field of minimally invasive surgery.
Endoscopic surgery, a cutting-edge technique that involves using tiny cameras and instruments to perform surgical procedures, has gained significant popularity in recent years for its ability to minimize patient trauma, reduce recovery times, and deliver exceptional results.
And at the heart of this surgical revolution stands Dr. Dennis Agbazue, whose unwavering commitment to his patients and relentless pursuit of excellence has earned him widespread respect and admiration.
With a team of trusted specialists, Agbazue led the operation on Friday, July 28, at Cormed Private Hospital in Vanderbijlpark.
Cormed is a leading healthcare institution renowned for its excellence in patient care and comprehensive medical service.
The multi-disciplinary team at Cormed comprises physicians, surgeons, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare specialists who work together to address various medical conditions and complex cases.
Speaking to Mooivaal Media, Agbazue shared his life story as a specialist Orthopaedic, Interventional pain specialist, and spinal surgeon.
He also touched on the most anticipated surgery he was set to perform on Kiki Rabie, a 45-year-old who had several botched surgeries previously.
“I started doing this type of procedure last year, however, I have been doing spinal surgery for the past 18 years.”
Only about 5% of spinal surgeons worldwide carry out this procedure, but Agbazue is among the minimal doctors in SA performing this high-tech same-day operation.
“We are the only people performing this service in the Vaal and Free State, but there are a few doctors doing the same in some parts of Gauteng. What got me keen about this procedure is that it’s minimally invasive, the work you do on a patient, they won’t even know that you’ve worked on them. They are fit enough to get back to their lives the very same day,” he said.
His passion for improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of life led him to specialize in endoscopic surgery early on.
Since then, he has honed his skills, embraced the latest advancements in the field, and dedicated himself to perfecting the art of this delicate surgical technique.
But beyond his surgical prowess, what sets Dr. Agbazue apart is his genuine empathy and care for his patients.
“Rabie has had two to three unsuccessful spinal surgeries. She is in a lot of pain. At one point, she was in hospital for up to three months and almost lost her job. She faced social, psychological, and occupational problems because of complications from the surgery she had. When she saw me earlier in the year, I decided that the approach will assist her to relieve her problems,” he said.
“This technique will assist Rabie. We are very optimistic that her problem will be sorted. I feel very happy and anticipate good feedback. The anticipated excitement and joy feel good that finally, we will assist Rabie,” he said.
Rabie spoke of his warm demeanor, reassuring presence, and ability to instill hope even in the most challenging cases.
“I was told about Dr. Agbazue and my journey with him has been awesome. I am very happy and looking forward to the operation. The success of this operation will change my life. I was trapped into something I can’t change, but now looking forward to getting back to my life and I have faith in Dr. Agbazue,” she said.
Wally Jacobs, an employee of Q-Surgical who supply the endoscopic instruments and equipment used by Dr. Agbazue said “We’ve worked with Dr. Agbazue for two years now and are delighted to be a part of his hundredth endoscopic surgery. The surgery is truly revolutionising the spinal surgery internationally, and we trust that this procedure will provide relief for Ms Rabie. I personally have been a part of more than 2000 endoscopic spine surgeries, and have seen first-hand the benefits that this procedure can provide.”
