VANDERBIJLPAK.- The multi-talented Omolemo Okonkwor (13) came second place in the Spelling Bee competition held at Park Ridge Primary School in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday.
This Frikkie Meyer Primary School Grade 6 learner is also involved in many activities including netball and soccer. Okonkwor told Sedibeng Ster that she started to develop an interest in spelling at a young age, and was recently encouraged to take part in the Spelling Bee competition by her teacher.

Okonkwor further said that even though she was nervous she was confident because she had been practicing. She said that her mother has been supporting her and that she was excited to have come second place in the competition. The competition will soon go to the district level where Okonkwor will be competing against other learners to represent Sedibeng at the provincial level.

“I like to participate in school activities and I play netball and football both at school and at home. This keeps me busy and focused especially on my studies. I hope one of these will be my career when I finish school,” she concluded.
