Boipatong schools take part in Chess competition

"This shows how much Chess is growing in our community, especially at the school level."

BOIPATONG.- Boipatong school learners competed against each other in a Chess competition held at Boipatong Community Hall on Friday.

Emfuleni Chess Association Chairperson, Lefu Lepota said that the competition was part of the selection programme of the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) OR Tambo Soncini Social Cohesion Games.

Lepota further said that the learners came in big numbers and it was a fun-filled day for them throughout the day.

“The response was positive with the school allowing their learners to come and participate in these games. This shows how much Chess is growing in our community, especially at the school level and I have no doubt that this sport will attract mass participation in the near future,” said Lepota.
