Bontate Ba Kopane revamp burnt home

In an act of kindness, a group of Bophelong man's only forum revamped a house that was burnt a month ago for a struggling family.

BOPHELONG – An organisation in Bophelong comprising males only took the initiative to revamp a burnt house.

A family of Mfelani was left stranded after their home caught fire in August 05.

Since then, the family has been staying in a temporary shack to allow Bontate Ba Kopane members to refurbish the house.

From tiling, painting, ceiling, and roofing, these are some of the things the group applied, following donations from different local business people.

On Sunday, the house was officially opened to the family after being completed.

Tears of joy were the order of the day for Philile Mfelani and her nine-year-old daughter after entering the house first time following the incident.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster outside the now white house, Chairperson of the Forum Jacob Noliphondwana said  “The house was gutted down and we decided to assist the lady because she had no means of getting it back to its normal state. We knocked on different hardware doors asking for bulk materials to revamp the house. We were lucky to receive donations from generous business individuals such as Buco and Klipkor.”

“We plastered the walls, roofed the top, erected tiles and ceiling. We have many departments in our organisation that help the people of Bophelong and this particular family was used under infrastructure,” he said.

Noluphondwana said they are happy to finally complete the project and see the family going back to their home.

Philile Mfelane (27) “I am very happy that we received the assistance from Bontate Ba Kopanang. I would have never been able to do the sterling job they did for us.”
