SEDIBENG.- It will be Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns who will clash in the MTN8 final.
These two sides booked their place in the finals after their respective results over the weekend. Sundowns were the first to book their place in the finals after they beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 (3-2 aggregate) at the sold-out Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
Despite the defeat Chiefs felt hard done when the referee failed to award them what seemed to be a clear penalty. However, Sundowns took a lead in the first opening minutes of the game after a comedy of errors from Chiefs goalkeeper which resulted in the goal.
Sundowns proceeded to the final with a 3-2 aggregate score.
In the other, second leg semi-final game, a 1-0 (2-2 aggregate score) win to Stellenbosch over Orlando was not enough to take them to the final at Orlando Stadium on Sunday. Pirates came into this game with a 2-1 lead in the first-leg semi-final. Stellenbosch came with gun blazing in search of an equalizing goal but despite their 1-0 win, Pirates booked their place in the final with an away goal rule with a 2-2 aggregate score.
The final will take place on October 7 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
