Gauteng Women In Sports Awards Sedibeng Region

“The aim of Gauteng Women In Sports Awards is to acknowledge women for their contribution in sports."

SEDIBENG.- Futballing Girls in conjunction with the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation hosted their 4th Gauteng Women In Sports Awards in Sedibeng held at Guest Conference Easte on Sunday.

These awards take place all over Gauteng with the main aim being to reward the girls and women for their par excellence performance in their respective sporting fields. These include athletes, administrators and coaches.

The Futballing Girls founder, Moonira Ramathula is the woman behind this initiative to recognise and acknowledge women in sports in Gauteng. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, after the event, Ramathula said this Women In Sports Awards is also meant to encourage women to participate in sports. She believes that women have a huge responsibility to play an important role in sports.

“The aim of Gauteng Women In Sports Awards is to acknowledge women for their contribution in sports. We want to inspire the girl child out there not to give up in their dreams and Gauteng Women In Sports Awards says to them, we see you and we acknowledge your contribution to sports,” said Ramathula.

The awards were divided into Administrator Of The Year, Coach Of The Year, Team Of The Year, School Sports Athlete Of The Year, Sportswoman Of The Year and Volunteer Of The Year. VUT Women Basketball Team scooped the Team Of The Year Award with Mathapelo Motaung scooping the Administrator Of The Year Award.

Lesego Molefe scooped the Coach Of The Year Award while Duduzile Malindi scooped School Sports Athlete Of The Year, with Manana Mosia walking away with the Sportswoman Of The Year Award. Sinethemba Dlamini scooped Volunteer Of The Year Award.
