Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokeswoman Constable Doris Nkosi said “The operation aims to assist in tackling crimes that have shown a great increase in that particular area and making sure the community feels safer in our presence. The objective of the operation is to ensure that all the inhalants of South Africa are safe and free to live in a crime-free society.”

During the operation, Heidelberg station commander Colonel Phiwe Ndwadwe welcomed all stakeholders who attended the parade.

In his address, Ndwandwe said, “Assist our station with removing all the illegal weapons and drug users as well as the drug dealers who are contributing a lot in the crime committed around Heidelberg precinct.”

Nkosi said the operation was divided into four groups dispersed to different locations in their precinct.

“We conducted a road safety awareness during a roadblock on the N3 Weight bridge. Stakeholders distributed about 300 pamphlets addressing road safety including drinking and driving, hitchhiking, and hijackings,” she said.
