Boipatong police conduct door to door

The police in Boipatong together with various stakeholders conducted a door to door campaign to educate the community.

BOIPATONG. – The police in Boipatong together with various stakeholders have been hard at work during the 16 days of activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that a door to door campaign was recently conducted at Tshepiso Phase 3 informal settlement.

Maxambela says: “Working together with Indibano Victim Support Centre,Gender-based Violence Brigades, Youth Desk, Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Community Patrollers, we embarked on an awareness campaign for 16 days of activism.”

Maxambela explains that during the outreach, members of the community were issued with pamphlets containing information about different types of domestic abuse, human trafficking,stocvel scams and crime tips relating to robberies and hijacking.

” The community was urged to utilize the Victim Friendly Centre by Indibano Victim Support and services they offer.”

According to Maxambela, GBV Brigades also educated the community about the important role they play and shared their contact details.

“We advise the community to continue any form of criminal activity happening in their areas,” Maxambela concludes.
