Fine Arts Exhibition at Boipatong Monument

The organisers have encouraged the community to come and enjoy the day, as they listen to good music while buying beautiful artwork.

BOIPATONG. – The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) in conjunction with the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) and the Gauteng Department of Sports Arts and Culture and Recreation will open a Fine Arts Exhibition at the Boipatong Monument on Friday, December 15.

The Boipatong Massacre has become the pinnacle of the history of South African politics where fifty-four people lost their lives and some were left injured and maimed. A group of young people from Boipatong created a wonderful piece called ‘STAY ALIVE’ which will be showcased together with other amazing artworks from different local artists.

The organisers have encouraged the community to come and enjoy the day, as they listen to good music while buying beautiful artwork.

“Ironically, the township name means “hidden” and it’s high time we turned things around so that the people of Boipatong are no longer hidden but that they can embrace their rich, vibrant culture and heritage and take pride in what the township and the monument have to offer to the rest of the world.”

The exhibition will run from 14:00 to 17:00 until March 2024.
