Man nabbed for unlicensed firearm and ammunition

This is after police received a tip-off regarding a suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

BOIPATONG. – A 33-year-old male suspect was nabbed by Boipatong police for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The incident happened on December 16 in Sector 2, Sophangisa Street in Boipatong. This is after police received a tip-off regarding a suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela says: “Members together with the station commander Lieutenant Colonel Puleng Mokoena swiftly responded to the said address.

“On arrival, they found the suspect together with his friends partying. The men were immediately searched, and a firearm and live ammunition were found on the suspect.”

Maxambela reports that the suspect was arrested and will soon make an appearance at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court facing a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.
