The Midvaal Local Municipality has initiated Integrated Development Plan (IDP) public engagement meetings, resuming on Saturday, January 27, 2024. These meetings will extend across all 15 Wards within the municipality.

According to a statement, the IDP public engagements comply with Section 29 (1) (b) and (ii) of the Municipal Systems Act, 2000, which mandates consultation with the local community regarding development needs and priorities. The process also encourages community participation in drafting the IDP.

Key figures including the Executive Mayor, Peter Teixeira, the Speaker of Council, the Mayoral Committee, Councillors, the Municipal Manager, and Heads of Departments will be present during these engagements to listen to the inputs and concerns raised by the community.

Midvaal emphasises that these engagements are crucial to ensuring that planning aligns with community needs, and the budget is prepared accordingly. The IDP plays a vital role in the municipality’s strategy.
