Jealous lover allegedly sets shack on fire over baby-daddy drama

A mother of four is reeling with shock after her two-room shack was burnt down, allegedly at the hands of her lover following a domestic dispute.

MARIKANA. – She left with her last-born baby daddy to buy their child’s essential items.

When she returned, Selina Kutoane (32) was met by a devastating sight of her home engulfed in flames with a cloud of smoke rising to the sky.

This was after her lover allegedly set the shack on fire on Saturday night, after an alleged week-long domestic dispute.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Kutoane detailed what happened moments before her shack was burnt with all her belongings inside leaving nothing but charred leftovers.

“We had a dispute with my boyfriend for the entire week, and when my last-born baby daddy came to fetch me to get her things, my boyfriend got more furious. Before I left the shack, he threatened to burn it down should I leave with my child’s dad. I thought he was joking, but seeing how serious he was, I knew he would do that,” she said.

Kutoane said her fury over the threat led her to chase away her boyfriend, packing his belongings before locking him out.

“When we came back, just after jumping off the taxi, a neighbour told me that my shack was burning. As I approached my shack, I was greeted by a group of residents watching my things burning to the ground,” she said.

Kutoane said jealousy drove the motive of her boyfriend to burn the shack.

“I know he was driven by possessiveness and suspicions. He got furious and we argued about the role played by my baby daddy in my child’s life, but that can’t be a reason why he should burn my home.”

“I am devastated by what happened.  I lost all my belongings in that fire. That shack didn’t even belong to me, it belonged to my aunt’s friend,” she said.

The mother of four said she requests assistance from anyone who can assist her family with any clothes and contents to rebuild their home.
