Joseph Radebe, Chairperson of the Institutional Forum, highlighted the important responsibilities and expectations placed on the new Chancellor.

“We are going to advise you as our statutory responsibility to a prosperous VUT,” Radebe stated. “As we investiture you to VUT, we’ve got expectations. You are stepping on the toes of those who led before you. The question is, did they fulfill their responsibilities? We were intentional in choosing you. We welcome you at VUT and wish you a good journey. Do not be like your predecessor and come only to such events, but when needed you are nowhere to be found,” he said.

Makhosonke Sangweni, Chairperson of the Convocation, expressed confidence in Mntambo’s ability to lead the university towards greater achievements.

“Your appointment heralds a new era for our institution. We are confident that your vision, leadership, and commitment to academic excellence will propel VUT to new heights. Your guidance will be instrumental in advancing our mission to foster innovation, drive research, and engage meaningfully with our communities,” Sangweni said.

He further emphasized the critical role of the Chancellor as a guiding light for the institution.

“As the Chancellor, you are the beacon that will illuminate our path forward. We trust in your ability to inspire, lead with integrity, and champion the values that make VUT a pillar of educational and societal advancement. Together, we will navigate the challenges of our time, seizing opportunities to make a lasting impact on the world,” he said.
