SASOLBURG – She always wanted to study at Ivy League University in the USA. And her dream seems to be one step away from becoming reality.

However, without the help of the community, her dreams may stay out of reach.

A bright and ambitious Oratile Bontle Motswenyane is pleading with good Samaritans to help her fundraise R85 350 through any small donation.

This comes after the grade 10 star pupil from Sasolburg High School was recently selected for the prestigious Academic Achievers Tour.

The tour is a programme that takes top academic achievers from South Africa to tour some of the world’s most renowned universities in the United States.

According to the 16-year-old, the exceptional journey will allow her to visit five of the USA’s top universities, engage in private lectures on global topics, and explore legendary museums and sites.

Speaking to Ster, Motswenyane said the programme is an academic adventure that most students only dream of.

“I was absolutely overwhelmed with excitement and joy when I found out I was among those selected for the tour. I have always dreamed of attending an Ivy League University, and this tour would allow me to get a closer look at some of my dream schools and see what studying there might truly be like,” she said.

While Motswenyane remains adamant she may get a glimpse of her future, a major hurdle standing in her way as she has only managed to raise R1 000 for the trip so far.

With time running out, Motswenyane is turning to the Sasolburg and Vaal community as well as Ster readers to make this dream possible.

“I’m asking for any kind of assistance, no matter how small. Every bit helps bringing me closer to my goal,” she pleaded.
