Youth will reap the fruits at annual mayoral summit

The programme is set to feature testimonials from last year’s beneficiaries, panel discussions, motivational speakers, and pledges from the municipality and private sector to improve the lives of young people.

MIDVAAL – A world of opportunity is about to open up for young people from Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM). This will happen through the second annual Mayoral Youth Summit that will be held at the Midvaal Christian Centre at 10:00.

The event follows the highly successful Youth Summit in 2023, which was attended by scores of young people from across Midvaal.

During the summit, the executive mayor, Peter Teixeira, told young people that their decision to be present at the summit is a resounding affirmation of their determination to shape a brighter future for themselves and the community.

Speaking about some of the positive outcomes of the 2023 event, Midvaal highlights that SAYouth.mobi pledged to hire over 100 young attendees from the summit.
“The individuals were placed in various positions, including coding at Early Childhood Development Centres (ECD) and in the field of creative arts.

“Human Capital Learning Solutions offered all present young individuals at the summit access to three internationally recognised skills development courses for free.

Just Radio, a radio station based in Midvaal, offered internship opportunities to four aspiring young individuals seeking a career in media.”

MLM provided student financial aid to 29 young people pursuing higher education qualifications.

“This year’s Youth Summit will once again bring together government departments, private businesses, NGOs, rehabilitation centres, and youth support agencies to provide immediate assistance and guidance to young people.”

The programme is set to feature testimonials from last year’s beneficiaries, panel discussions, motivational speakers, and pledges from the municipality and private sector to improve the lives of young people.
